As decided in #8 , the NME's "head" should be an egg-shaped cockpit, coupled with guns. The hull should be red, the glass black and opaque and the guns gray.

Here's our beloved NME, in its full glory! I do regret applying all of those modifiers in Blender. When I made the cutouts of the hull for the guns, I had to manually place the vertices, draw the edges and fill the faces of the rectangular shapes that cover up the inside of the cockpit. Slow and steady really does win the race.
