The game must contain some puzzles as challenges. To progress through the game, you must force open some doors in one way or another. They must be implemented in both the fancy and plain versions of the UI. This issue will focus on gathering ideas and deciding on which to use.
Half Life: Alyx has got to be one of the best VR games ever for many reasons, one of them being the puzzles. They are all very unique and rather challenging while still being fun. We won't be plagiarizing them, but there are many lessons to be learned. https://youtu.be/WYbhEynI9uE

This I can see very easily implemented.

I only struggle to think of how we can do this with the fancy UI.

I imagine collapsing the door by blowing it up with a remote weapons system like this one.

I couldn't find a higher quality source, but physics puzzles are also fun.

The I Expect You To Die series is quite literally a VR puzzle game, so we can probably look for great ideas through the whole thing. The point I want to make here is that it is possible to make pushing only a few buttons very fun, if executed correctly.

Robocop: Rogue City is a very fun game that does do justice to the movies, but my computer could barely play it due to the graphical requirements. The upgrade menu itself is a puzzle, and I think that there could be something to use here.

Sniper Elite's many puzzles and opportunities usually involve shooting something that you normally wouldn't do. We could have a puzzle use the gun arm as well.
After watching the videos above, here are some of my favorite ones that also seem to be most viable to finish within our time limit and scope of our project:

What's important to consider here is that the combinations of certain aspects and features can create intuitive and original puzzles. Furthermore, this doesn't exclude puzzles like physics-based ones. It simply seems like a lot more troubleshooting would be required to perfect this type of puzzle, making sure that it would work consistently without any bugs.
I have an idea for our last puzzle. The door won't be able to be hacked or hot wired like the others, so the only remaining option is brute force. The player will use a remote weapons system to maneuver a drone around obstacles. The player can try again if they fail. When they succeed, the door blows open, revealing the semi-collapsed hallway behind it.
In the sketch, you can see the remote weapons system, consisting of a big red button, a lever and a display. The drone must be navigated with the lever, avoiding the yellow obstacles shown on the display. If the player fails, they can press the button to try again.
For the second puzzle, the player will hot-wire the door. They will rotate enough wire connectors in the right ways to forcefully engage the door's motor. To see if their solution is correct, they will pull on a breaker switch, as seen in the bottom left of the screen. If so, then the door opens, otherwise they can try again.
And finally, for the first puzzle. The player will crack a password with a wordle-like game. They will rotate 5 wheels with letters on them. If the letter is correct, it will turn green. If not, it will remain gray. The door opens when all 5 letters are correct.
These three puzzles can be implemented in our fancy UI as well as the plain UI. They're all feasible to make and are all unique.
